This series of images was my attempt to capture vitality in the style of Chinese calligraphy.  Birds in particular seemed to lend themselves to this endeavor.  I found myself trying to make the shapes and textures of birds stationary or in flight resemble black ink brush characters. At the same time, it was my hope that the wild power and attitude of each animal might remain apparent.
